Making A Difference In The Community: The Different Contributions You Can Make To Change Lives

3 Minutes Posted on:

Would you like to make a significant difference in the lives of those who are living in the community? There are many ways to make a contribution to people who are in need. You don't necessarily need to be a millionaire to help people and improve the lives of those who may be struggling. In fact, there are different things you can do right now to contribute to the less fortunate.

Plan a Food For the Homeless Event

You may see a lot of homeless people walking the streets in your area. There are times when you may feel bad for them, wondering when was the last time they had a meal to eat or a warm bed to sleep in at night. No matter their reasons for being homeless, you might be interested in doing something that would make a difference in their lives. You could start by planning out an event where you'd prepare food and serve it to the homeless people who are walking on the streets.

Although some of these people could go to shelters, there are times when shelters tend to run out of space and some people may be turned away. Others may not want to visit or live at a shelter, but that means they may not have access to a meal each day. You could kick-start the event by purchasing affordable food products, such as bread, potatoes, chicken drumsticks, peanut butter, and jelly.

Once you've purchased some of these different food items, you can begin preparing meals. You may want to make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, baked chicken, and mashed potatoes. You could hand out sandwiches during the lunchtime hours and platters of the meat with mashed potatoes for dinner. Of course, you can adjust what you're planning to prepare, but it all depends on what you're willing to make and give out when you have the extra time to do something so generous.

Donate Your Unused Car

Do you have a vehicle you're not using? Rather than selling it for a low price because it's old and outdated, consider donating the unused car to the less fortunate. There are several different programs that accept used vehicles as a donation, such as Action Donation Services. Your car donation may be used to help support local veterans or children in your area who are suffering from cancer. Not only could your donation of a vehicle help support people in need, but it's something you'll be able to deduct from your taxes, so you'll get a bit of a reward for doing such a good deed.

About Me

No Money to Donate? Volunteer Your Time I greatly enjoy helping people, especially children, so I entered a career where I could help others, but I didn't make a great income. While I love my job, I sometimes wished I had entered a higher-paying field so that I could donate to many worthy causes. One day a co-worker told me that she had just spent time overseas helping the needy and the humanitarian organization paid for her travel costs. I soon took a trip overseas myself and learned just how rewarding it can be to volunteer your time. I now embark on a humanitarian mission every year during my work vacation, and I enjoy every minute of it. I am eager to spread the word about the many ways a person can help others, even if they are not wealthy, on my new blog!
